Hand carved and skilfully painted wooden bird sculpture of a Green Sandpiper captured in an elegant preening pose and mounted on a wooden plinth.

The Green Sandpiper is a small wader (shorebird) of the Old World. It represents an ancient lineage of the genus Tringa; is only close living relative is the Solitary Sandpiper. They both have brown wings with little light dots, and a delicate but contrasting neck and chest pattern.

Made from sustainable wood, each sculpture has a lovely authentic and highly individual character. Each carved bird and base is unique and therefore may vary slightly.

All the birds in this range are designed in the UK by British artists and produced in Bali under fair trading conditions.
