'harbourside houses' - driftwood art

£ 92.00

Above a deep blue, choppy sea a row of brightly coloured harbourside houses overlook a collection of fishing boats and trawlers. The 'terrace' is created by attaching a selection of driftwood planks and pieces together horizontally.

The planks make an ideal canvas for the individual houses and united they make up a very pleasing scene reminiscent of a town just down the coast from Lizzie's house called Aberaeron where the Georgian houses in vibrant shades are beautiful (and the fish and chips are tasty too!).

Lizzie Spikes lives, works and walks on the beautiful West coast of Wales. She creates her paintings on canvases fashioned from the flotsam and jetsam found washed up on the beaches of Ceredigion.

The planks and old wood show evidence of their previous lives and working with layers of old paint, the nail holes and the man made shapes along with the form fashioned by the sea to create original and inspiring canvases for her paintings - giving these pieces of wood new life and purpose.
